As I mentioned in my last post, Generating a Mood, kids are multi-sensory learners. It is important for us to communicate the message using as many of the 5 senses.
Using video can be very powerful. It can allow a message, parable or even just a statement to be communicated more effectively than by just the use of audible words. Video can generate a sense of excitement and anticipation (for example, a countdown during a game or the start of a service). It’s important to remember that for the western child, video is a part of their everyday life. They are used to it. They understand it. By using video, we’re making the message familiar to them.
Here are a short list of wiggy resources that I use when creating video. I encourage you to pass these onto your ‘nerd team’.
- Video Copilot – After Effects Tutorials
- Stuff I Can Use – A heap of free visual resources. More-so orientated towards youth+, but a great source of inspiration nonetheless.
- Seeds - Free video backgrounds and countdowns
- FreeCountdowns.Net – Enough said
- BittBox - Textures, tutorials, tips for Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
If you have any others, I’d love to add it to the list. Let me know by commenting below.
